Ongoing Creativity

Ongoing Creativity

12. Ongoing Creativity

When women crocheted, tatted, knit, weaved and quilted they created something new, often useful and quite beautiful. Together with their own personal pleasure in the work itself, they added beauty to the life of their community. As beings within the unfolding story, we can have confidence that we can add beauty in many ways as we share in the qualities of the vast creative whole as they are expressed in the human. There is much yet to unfold. This creativity and our freedom must be realized in a manner that does not destroy but enhances the ongoing viability of the planet.
The Persian poet and mystic, Jalal-ud Din Rumi wrote:
The source is within you,
And this whole world is springing up from it.
The source is full,
And its waters are ever-flowing.
Do not grieve, drink your fill.
Don't think it will ever run dry, this endless ocean.
The poem is in The Way of Passion, A Celebration of Rumi, by Andrew Harvey, p189
